Smith HallSince 1831 LaGrange College has been challenging students' minds, inspiring their souls—and changing lives. Today, LaGrange is a four-year liberal arts and sciences institution offering more than 55 academic and pre-professional programs, including graduate degrees in education.

The institution is consistently ranked by U.S. News & World Report among the South's top 10 regional colleges and has been listed for more than 10 years among that category's "great schools at a great price." LaGrange also has been recognized as a leader in sustainability and opened a LEED-certified library in 2009.

Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, the college is dedicated to preparing global citizens through its study-away program. LaGrange offers a commitment of $2,500 to students who enroll as freshmen and want to study abroad their junior or senior year.

The LaGrange Panthers compete in 16 sports as part of NCAA Division III. Athletic teams include the only D-III football program in the state.
Located about 65 miles southwest of Atlanta, the college inhabits an immaculately maintained campus of more than 130 acres situated on the highest geographical point in the city of LaGrange. Approximately 1,000 students call it home.

Above all, the college’s mission calls it to prepare men and women to become successful, responsible citizens who aspire to lives of integrity and moral courage.

Transforming Lives

President Dan McAlexander
Dan McAlexander

"LaGrange College will be distinguished as a college that transforms the lives of its students and its communities." This bold vision statement captures the essence of the LaGrange College experience.

Transformation is, after all, inevitable when faculty and staff devote their lives to challenging and inspiring students through rigorous academic study, an enriching campus life experience and active engagement with their community. Every day I am inspired by the stories of student transformation that I hear and see on our campus. You can see video profiles of some of those students here.

As we work to prepare men and women to become successful, responsible citizens in an increasingly interconnected world, we also are transforming this institution. Our new Study-Away Commitment assures all entering freshmen a broader experience of their world by guaranteeing them a study-away experience in their junior or senior years, regardless of their financial capacity.

Our new Servant Scholars program will encourage our most motivated students to study, and to serve, their community as part of a residential learning/living experience housed in a historic, beautifully restored apartment building midway between campus and downtown. We aim to transform both their lives and our community.

Transformation —challenging, inspiring, exciting. That is what you'll find here at LaGrange College.
