Dec. 14, 2015

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced a partnership with the city of LaGrange, Georgia, and Troup County to host the 2017 and 2018 USA South Spring Sports Festival. The festival features the tournaments of all six Conference spring sports. The upcoming 2016 spring tournaments will be hosted by the city of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Rocky Mount has played host to the USA South Spring Sports Festival for the past three years.

"We look forward to partnering with LaGrange as we plan for future USA South Sports Festivals," stated Rita Wiggs, USA South Commissioner. "These are premier events for our coaches and student-athletes. We look forward to working closely with the community leaders to bring it to fruition and continue its fine tradition."

Less than an hour from Atlanta, and within a short drive of Montgomery and Macon, LaGrange is the regional hub in West Georgia and East Alabama for recreation, business, arts and entertainment.

"I am delighted that the athletes, coaches and fans of the USA South will experience the championship environment of our community," said City of LaGrange Mayor Jim Thornton. "Our selection as host reflects LaGrange and Troup Country's exceptional venues and a long history of hosting successful sporting events."

USA South member LaGrange College is located in LaGrange and its President, Dr. Dan McAlexander, knows firsthand what USA South guests will encounter.

"With our location in the heart of LaGrange, we enjoy every day what visitors to the community will experience: one of the prettiest and friendliest small cities in the South," shared President McAlexander. "I am confident that our Conference partners will receive an enthusiastic welcome and enjoy memorable competition."

The baseball tournament will primarily be played at the LaGrange campus' Cleaveland Field. Additionally, Point University will host two contests at its varsity field in West Point, Georgia, just 15 miles from LaGrange.

The softball tournament will be held at the Shuford Softball Complex. This facility contains six softball fields with a large centered concession area with restrooms. This facility has hosted numerous national recreation softball tournaments.

The women's lacrosse tournament will be held at Callaway Stadium. The stadium features a turf surface, scoreboard/Jumbotron, seating capacity for 5,000 and ample locker room space. Callaway Stadium is adjacent to the LaGrange campus and is the current home of the Panthers' football team as well as several local high school events.

The men's golf tournament will take place at the 6,589-yard Highland Country Club. This is a challenging course with a course rating of 72.3 and a slope rating of 138. The facility also contains full locker rooms for each team.

The men's and women's tennis competition will be split between two facilities. McCluskey Tennis Center and LaGrange’s varsity courts will host the tournaments. Each venue contains six lighted hard-surface courts.

Specific details and game schedules of each tournament have yet to be finalized. Once official schedules have been determined, they will be available on the USA South website. Finally, it is the USA South's goal to continue providing live statistics and video of tournament contests when available.
