College to offer computer skills courses
LaGrange College is offering a series of Saturday classes designed to help participants
build their computer skills. The courses begin Oct. 25.
Jeff Lukken, administrative director of graduate and degree completion programs,
said the college is responding to needs in the community.
“We hear from employers that some of their employees could benefit from an upgrade
in their computer skills to help them advance in their careers,” he said. “We also
know there are adults and senior citizens who would love to be able to keep up
with their families and friends through email and social media sites.”
The first class, “Introduction to Computers,” will focus on basic computer skills,
computer terms and definitions, keyboard and mouse usage, Internet searches, use
of Windows, how to set up email accounts and more. Handouts will be provided.
“Intermediate Computer Skills” on Nov. 8 will cover word processing, email etiquette,
opening and closing files, copying and pasting files, Internet research, understanding
YouTube, social media and more. Handouts will be provided.
The final class, “Advanced Computer Skills,” will be offered Nov. 15 and will
include an introduction to Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, spreadsheets and more.
The cost is
$49 per course or $119 for all three. All classes will begin at 9 a.m. and end
at noon in Room 322 on the third floor of Smith Hall. Dress is casual.
Seating is limited. For more information or to register, contact Fayedra Mumme
