Apply for Financial Aid

Apply for Financial Aid

Students interested in receiving federal and institutional need-based grants and scholarships, loans, and work study must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each academic year.   The FAFSA is available on January 1 of each year.   The FAFSA can be completed on the web, the preferred method, at .  Students who prefer to submit a paper FAFSA may download an application at or by calling 1-800-433-3243. The results of your processed FAFSA will be distributed to all schools you list in the school section of the FAFSA .  LaGrange College's Title IV Code is 001578.

Students and parents of dependent students, who are completing the FAFSA on the web for the first time, should request or create a Personal Identification Number (PIN) at .   The PIN will allow the student and parent, if applicable, to electronically submit their signatures for FAFSA processing and will allow the student to access other U.S. Department of Education systems.   A PIN should not be shared with anyone because of the personal identifying information associated with the PIN.   Once you have received your PIN(s), you can complete and submit your FAFSA.

What You Will Need to Complete the FAFSA

  • Social Security Card
  • 2015 Federal Tax Return (if not available, estimated tax information may be used until available)
  • W-2 Forms and other 2012 records of money earned
  • Driver's License
  • Permanent Resident Card
  • Bank statements
  • Investment statements
  • Records of child support paid/received

What's Next?

After the U.S. Department of Education's Central Processing System (CPS) receives your submitted FAFSA application, it will use the income and asset information provide to process your application utilizing the federal need analysis formula to determine your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). If you submitted required signatures electronically with your application and provided a valid e-mail address, you will receive an e-mail from the Department of Education that provides a link to a secure web site where you can view and print your Student Aid Report (SAR). Otherwise, you will receive your SAR by mail in approximately 2 weeks. The colleges and universities you listed on the FAFSA will receive your results and notify you of any additional information needed to complete the financial aid process.

LaGrange College begins processing FAFSA applications in early February.  At that time, all processed applications will be imported into our financial aid management system, Banner.  Each application is reviewed to determine if additional information is needed to complete the file or establish eligibility to participate in financial aid programs.  A missing documents letter or e-mail will be sent to the student identifying the items needed to complete his/her financial aid file.  To learn more about completing the financial aid process, click here .
